Means for Dreams

Identity, logo design, brand guidelines, pro-bono work.

Means for Dreams Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, has been dedicated to providing music education to underprivileged children in the Seattle area. Since 2021, they’ve sponsored over 20 students each year, helping them access life-changing music lessons. They were in need of a new logo and identity to better represent their non-profit that felt serious without being stodgy, nodded to the involvement of children without feeling childlike, and also hinted to music without feeling rock-star oriented. I offered to create a new brand identity for them pro-bono.

After an initial meeting with the founders of the non-profit to find their objectives, messaging, considerations and no-gos, I created five territories of directions with visuals to choose from. After we narrowed down to three directions and the order of desire, I created three distinct identities for them to choose from. They overwhelmingly preferred the radiant direction, and after some minor tweaks (that only designers would probably notice), the new identity was rolled out! The results have been incredible: they’ve seen an increase in donations and have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from their community.
