elicit Wine Project Photography

Concepting, photography art direction.
Photography by Chuck Blackburn; styling by Nancy Wing.

elicit Wine Project is an innovation and incubation hub dedicated to creating wines that provoke response and emotion, where products that anticipate and shape the future of wine come to life. As a hub for several other brands, elicit needed beauty photography that fulfilled several criteria: simple enough that it allows individual brands/packages to shine without being boring; has a "cool factor" to tie back into the idea of innovation and elicit doing things a little differently; set-up or styling that is easy to use for a few combinations of a multi-brand “family” shot; and set up in a way that it could potentially be re-created in the future with new brands.

Working with a photographer and stylist, this concept solved all the client's goals: it is rooted in modern surrealism, with a nod to the senses, as expressed by the disembodied sculptural pieces of hands, mouths, and noses. The simple white background, marble base, and accessories in black and white allows the individual personality of the wine to shine, but also is easy to replicate in the future, should future photography for newer brands be needed.

The pitch:
The Surrealist Tableau. Leans into: Curiosity, Discovery, Unexpected, and Defying the Ordinary.

The surrealist tableau evokes a sense of play and curiosity: it is an invitation to look closer, an example of playfulness, and an expression of a desire to have more hands to hold the bottles, more mouths to try the endless variety of wine, more glasses to hold all the wine the customer could receive.
